Audiotalaia is an online platform, a netlabel and a joint venture devoted to release, promote and produce works based on sound in Spain and abroad. We are a very open minded platform seeking to present to the world a wide range of ways to work within what’s being known for the last few years as sound art.
Audiotalaia might be considered a netlabel (just because we operate online), it can be also considered a traditional label, a booking agency and even an event production company. Audiotalaia goes around the whole cultural process, from promoting an emergent artist and releasing his work as a free download until programming concerts or producing or own festival (Off_Herzios).
The platform is divided by three main axis. The digital download catalogue, an endeavour that started in 2007 as the main activity of Audiotalaia. This has become a curatorial reference and a must-visit joint of productions showing the latest on sound art in Spain. The digital catalogue releases on a monthly basis. The Physical Catalogue, a brand new adventure in which Audiotalaia makes a step forward offering physical limited editions of the music we love. Finally, the event section leaded by Off_Herzios a festival held in Valencia (Spain) that pushes all the activity of Audiotalaia into the real world, offering room for concerts, exhibitions, talks, and workshops opening the world of sound art to a wider audience.
Audiotalaia as a platform, is also twinned with two other collective endeavours: La Escucha Atenta a platform founded by Juanjo Palacios which also holds the LEA Ediciones Catalogue (focused on field recordings) and the world acclaimed Audition Records, the documenting adventure by Julián Bonequi, focused on free improvisation. All three nodes work independently but supporting each other as complementary elements.
Finally, through all this activity, Audiotalaia aims to present this kind of music to the world. It has been always important to do a certain pedagogy towards the audience and towards artists so Audiotalaia will always be focused on a very basic idea: we want you to listen to new things, different things, strange things and familiar, but ultimately: to listen.
